PD Dr. med. Dominik Sturm, Hopp Children’s Cancer Center (KiTZ) Heidelberg

Dr. Sturm is a Clinician Scientist at the German Cancer Research Center (Division Pediatric Glioma Research) and attending physician at Heidelberg University Hospital (Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology). His current research focus lies in applying state-of-the-art multi-omics to improve diagnostic accuracy in pediatric neuro-oncology, through refinement of tumor types and subtypes, detection of diagnostic or therapeutically relevant genetic alterations, and identification of cancer predisposition syndromes. As an initiator and coordinator of the “Molecular Neuropathology” registry in Germany, Switzerland, Greece, Australia and New Zealand, Dr. Sturm advertised the widespread use of molecular diagnostics in routine neuropathology for children and adolescents in Germany and beyond. Consequently, he is involved in the global dissemination of DNA methylation-based tumor classification as part of the MNP Outreach Consortium.
