Dr Mushtaq graduated from Sindh Medical University, Karachi. Following graduation, she started her fellowship of Pediatric followed by subspecialty training in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Aga Khan University Hospital. Dr Mushtaq has joined AKUH as an attending Pediatrics Hem/Oncology in 2010.
She later joined Neuro-oncology fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto 2013-2014. As the only trained Pediatric Neuro-oncologist in Pakistan she has established Pediatric Neuro-oncology MDT at AKU with the help of an excellent twinning initiative with The Hospital of Sick Children Toronto. She also developed a network of Neuro-oncology tumor across Pakistan with the help of My Child Matter Grant (Sanofi Espoir Aventis Fondation) for the Capacity building of Pediatric Neuro-oncology services in 13 private/public sector hospitals of Pakistan. Her research interests are Low grade glioma and medulloblastoma in children. She is author of more than 70 peer reviewed manuscripts and few book chapters. She is also the founder of Pediatric Neuro-oncology fellowship in Pakistan at Aga Khan University Hospital. PNO (Pediatric Neuro-oncology) team led by her developed Pakistan National Guidelines for the treatment of Medulloblastoma, Low Grade Glioma and High-Grade Glioma.
